Why I Do What I Do

Why I Do What I Do

Hi, I'm Faye

I know what it feels like when your home stops feeling like you.

When you look around and wonder how it got this far. When every surface seems to hold something you haven’t dealt with, every cupboard contains another decision, and even thinking about where to begin feels exhausting.

And perhaps the hardest part is that you remember when it wasn’t like this.

I do too.

Around 15 years ago, as my marriage was ending, my own home became cluttered and overwhelming.

I was going through one of the most difficult periods of my life and, without really noticing it happening, my surroundings began to reflect it.

Things accumulated. Decisions were postponed. Belongings from different parts of my life became mixed together. I knew I wanted things to change, but I didn’t know where to begin.

And I realised something that has stayed with me ever since:

Sometimes the clutter isn’t the problem. It’s the evidence that life has happened.

Divorce happens. Bereavement happens. Illness happens. Children grow up. Relationships end. Parents die. Work becomes overwhelming. Our bodies change. We burn out. We move house. We start again.

And while we’re busy surviving all of that, our homes can quietly become the place where everything we haven’t had the time, energy or emotional space to deal with gets left.

That was what happened to me.

But instead of simply clearing my home and forgetting about it, I became fascinated by why it had happened.

I wanted to understand the relationship we have with our belongings, why letting go can feel so difficult, and why changing our physical environment can sometimes create such a profound shift in the rest of our lives.

So I chose to train professionally in decluttering and organisation.

It changed the direction of my work.

I already had more than 30 years’ experience working with people, alongside my professional background as a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist and NHS-approved Health & Wellbeing Coach.

Fresh Start Home Co brought those worlds together.

Because I don’t believe you need somebody standing in your home telling you to throw things away.

You need someone who can stand beside you when it feels overwhelming.

Someone who understands that the box you haven’t opened for five years might contain an entire chapter of your life.

Someone who can help you make decisions when your brain has had enough of making decisions.

Someone who won’t flinch at the room you’ve kept the door closed on.

And, most importantly, someone who will not judge you.

You do not need to clean before I arrive.

You do not need to apologise for your home.

You do not need to explain how it became this way.

We start exactly where you are.

One drawer. One cupboard. One bag. One room.

And slowly, underneath everything that has accumulated, something begins to reappear.

Space.

Calm.

Possibility.

You.

Because Fresh Start isn’t really about creating a perfectly organised home.

It’s about clearing away what belongs to an old chapter, making space for what comes next, and allowing yourself to become visible again.

To walk into your own home and recognise yourself in it.

And to create a space that doesn't simply reflect the life you've lived -

but the person you are becoming.
